Let’s celebrate Burns night!
Would you imagine being in a cold dark winter´s night surrounded by good friends with candle lights, cheerful music to create a magical feast of poetry, Scottish food and fine amber Whiskey?
Well, that is what Burns Night is about. And as our homesick teacher Fiona could not celebrate it properly, she decided to project it with her students. The 25th of January would had been the birthday of one of the most famous Scottish poets of the 18th century, named Robert Burns or Rabbie, for friends. He became a national symbol as in his time he recollected the old popular Scottish songs. Nowadays it is a worldwide celebration where people gather together to recite poems together and feast traditional Scottish dishes. So Fiona launched her weekly challenge inspired by this amazing tradition. Her students read a poem as profesional poetry readers! Seems crazy but the activity was great fun and the students truely practiced their pronunciation.
Congrats to Iván, Alba and Araceli, the marketing winners and all the contestants! You read your poems with good rhythm, entonation, intrigue pauses and above all, emotion and ecstasy!!
Don’t you believe us? Enjoy Iván and Alba recite The Tyger by Willian Blake and Hope is the thing with feathers by Emily Dickinson.
